ABSTRACT

Abstract The amazing properties of quantum systems, such as nonlocality, entanglement, superpositions and interference, have revolutionized our thinking about information processing and computing. Quantum teleportation is probably the most notable and dramatic among various concepts developed through the application of quantum mechanics to the information science. In this chapter we review the basic ideas behind quantum teleportation and discuss some interesting proposals for teleportation of various quantum systems. We also discuss the implementation of quantum teleportation based on the well-developed tools of cavity quantum electrodynamics.
