ABSTRACT

The home health care market is rapidly growing within the U.S., and so is the opportunity for telerehabilitation. Through the increasingly available technology such as wireless sensors, videoconferencing, PDAs, and camera phones, people now have access to products that can assist them in tracking their vital signs, assess their homes on accessibility, control their physical status, and remotely communicate their health information to their health professional from the comfort of their own homes. Telerehabilitation can reduce travel times and health care cost for patients as well as health professionals. This chapter will discuss some of the user and access issues associated with telerehabilitation as a result of patient cognition, mobility, and sensation.
