ABSTRACT

In many countries, the topic of health is integrated in occupational health and safety approaches, which

are described in worker protection laws and respective rules. Most companies in Western, industrialized

countries have some sort of an occupational health and safety system. Because of the legalities involved,

such activities are not popular, which are perceived as being primarily cost intensive. But this is not true

at all, if we look at the yearly work place injuries and the costs that employee’s illness incur each year

(Figure 7.1).
