ABSTRACT

Producing change in any organization is a challenge, whether it is a small business or a multinational

corporation. Different approaches may be used to reach the same goal. However, existing frameworks

are available to develop positive solutions addressing ergonomics issues in any environment. Elements

consistent with most effective programs include: worker participation, management commitment,

employee training, methods for identifying problems and controls, and medical management. Previous

study has shown that successful programs most often identified practical, low-cost solutions that led to

significant benefits.8 These benefits may include not only reduced injuries and workers compensation

costs, but also reduced absenteeism, as well as increased morale, productivity, and product quality.

Achieving and sustaining these positive results can be attained through cooperative work toward a

common goal.
