In the previous chapter, we derived a variety of functional components that
are characteristics of optomechatronic nature. These components can be
identified as a fundamental common tool that can realize optomechatronic
integration and in actual practice are becoming the essential parts of many
optomechatronic systems. In fact, this emerging trend can be observed in
a number of engineering products and systems. In this chapter, we will
illustrate several optomechatronic systems in which the optomechatronic
components are playing essential roles in performing key functional tasks.
The systems to be dealt with here include laser printers, optical storage
disks, atomic force microscopes (AFM), confocal microscopes, digital micro-
mirror devices, and visual tracking systems.
