ABSTRACT

Some standard boundary integral methods for the heat equation essentially consist of the solution by integral equation methods of triangular elliptic systems. Accurate boundary integral methods for the heat equation essentially require accurate boundary integral methods. This is the goal in this paper. This chapter describes a new discrete collocation method, which avoids the splitting altogether and is robust. This method is employed to improve a standard boundary integral method for the heat equation. Finally, the chapter presents some numerical results, demonstrating the properties of the method.
