Macromineral A macromineral can be defined as a mineral that is required in amounts greater than or equal to 100 mg per day or a mineral that constitutes 0.01% or more of the weight of the body.

Macronutrient The term macronutrient has been defined in a variety of ways. Some refer to macronutrients as any nutrient required in large amounts. Others limit the term to nutrients required in large amounts that also provide energy in the diet. These constituents include fats, proteins, carbohydrates, and alcohol. In some cases alcohol is excluded when discussing macronutrients. If the ability to provide energy from the diet is not included as part of the classification, water is also considered a macronutrient and some may include fiber.
