ABSTRACT

Each of the environmental spheres interacts with every other in some respect and in some locations on Earth. For example, fi sh in water, organisms that are part of the biosphere living in a segment of the hydrosphere, require dissolved oxygen for their respiration. This oxygen comes from the atmosphere. Minerals dissolved in the water come from the geosphere. If the body of water is a reservoir resulting from damming a stream, the dam, its spillway, and its other features are part of the anthrosphere. Countless other examples like this can be given.
