ABSTRACT
Compartmental modelling of tracer data is an important tool to provide an
in vivo
measure of nonaccessible parameters and variables, e.g., masses and fluxes.
In mineral kinetic studies, they have allowed a detailed quantification of the metabolism of many mineral elements in humans. Traditionally, radioactive tracers were used to this purpose.
