ABSTRACT

The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) over the last 24 years has developed a tool for the scientific elite: an amorphous computer network known as the Internet which now allows more than 20 million users to exchange electronic mail and share other resources. The Internet has become very popular in every walk of life, and user-friendly multimedia browser applications for accessing the World Wide Web have made it very easy and useful for retrieving information as well as creating a home page and storing needed information. It has attracted tremendous and ever-growing interest in the business, corporate, scientific, and other communities. It has enabled a new type of commerce which allows users to order products and make payments electronically. The number of Internet users is increasing at a rate of over 20% per month.
