ABSTRACT
A communication process is an essential component for both data processing and data communication systems.
Modem (MOdulation/DEModulation)
and transmission media together provide a platform for the transmission of data from computers/terminals, while the data from computers/terminals provide a communication interface between input devices and transmission media. We will use the terminology defined by ARPANET, and computers/terminals will be referred to as
hosts
. An example of input devices in our case will be a keyboard. The role of computer networks is to accept the data from the sender host and transmit it to the receiving host.
