Toward integrated OLAP and data mining

This last chapter of the book examines the issue of integrated OLAP and data mining, beginning with a discussion on the need for such integration. The rest of the chapter is devoted to a particular approach for integrated OLAP and data mining, namely, mining of influential association rules. This encompasses a detailed discussion because, although it is an important issue, discussion is not available elsewhere. Also, since this is the last chapter, a detailed discussion offers a chance to wrap up by reviewing several useful techniques discussed earlier for intelligent data warehousing, such as association rule mining, search space pruning, and bitmap indexing.
