ABSTRACT

In this section we pose the testing problem in terms of ~ 1 . u2.It can be shown that the power function of the T'vMT.5' test increases as uz varies from --o to 00 when z+ is zero. This implies that the pom-er of the WMW test mill be below ct: (the power when v1 = 0, v2 = 0) for negative values of 74 when q is close to zero. What's more the power gets worse as 14 becomes more negative. This is a very poor property and for this reason the LVMiI' test cannot be recommended for this testing problem.
