ABSTRACT

Coronary angiography provides detailed, dynamic images of the coronary artery lumen. It has been the ‘‘gold standard’’ for evaluation of patients with coronary artery disease. The compelling images of stenotic lesions provides the explanation for myocardial ischemia experienced by patients with angina and a guide to direct surgical or catheter-based revascularization (1, 2). In addition, the extent and severity of the angiographic stenoses along with left ventricular function are indicators of the patient’s prognosis.
