ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on a tool called RASORP designed to support the staffing process. RASORP is an implementation of the two-staged staffing procedure. For a pool of developers with specific competencies, RASORP creates optimized staffing plans. ReleasePlannerTM is a Web-based system supporting product release decisions. The main difference between ReleasePlannerTM and some of the existing commercial requirements and project management tools is related to the fundamental difference between administration of objects and intelligent search for best possible decision alternatives. Based upon stakeholder priorities and the estimated resource consumption of the candidate features, the system generates a set of optimized release plan alternatives. All the features relevant for the planning and implementation of the release plans need to be maintained in a repository. This repository changes dynamically and always contains the information about the actual content and the status of the features.
