ABSTRACT
This chapter describes a systematic decision support method for product release planning. It presents the operational description of the whole planning process is made by a process model and practical experience from the application of the EVOLVE method. The chapter provides an operational description of the underlying process of the EVOLVE II method. EVOLVE II is a highly flexible method that allows planning at different levels of granularity and with different modeling components involved. EVOLVE II emphasizes the process of planning and provides support for interaction with stakeholders at the different stages. Once all the stakeholders have provided their priority scores, analysis of the scoring can be done. Besides the product manager, stakeholders are involved in different ways at the different steps. Facing a small set of qualified solutions, the product manager and the associated stakeholders can get further insight into the problem structure and dependencies and move to the next iteration with a refined model.
