ABSTRACT
In Chapter 4 some algorithms for the multi-scale representation of point features were presented. Naturally, the next topic is algorithms for line features. Four chapters are devoted to line features, as there is a huge body of literature in this area. This chapter discusses the point-reduction algorithms. The smoothing algorithms will be presented in Chapter 6, the scale-driven generalization algorithms in Chapter 7, and algorithms for a set of lines in Chapter 8.
