ABSTRACT

Numerous standards at the international, regional, national, and local levels pertain to monitoring and measuring radioactive aerosols (Cox et al., 2003a, 2003b). The topics of these standards range from generic subjects such as sampling strategies and particle size determinations to specic issues such as how to sample for a particular radioactive particle or gas. As shown in Figure 3.1, there is a complex set of interrelationships and interactions among numerous private sector, national, and international interests in the development of industry-wide, voluntary consensus standards.
