ABSTRACT
The aim of this chapter is to consider the issue of biological toxins as inhalational hazards and ultimately to suggest experimental approaches for identifying possible therapeutic and prophylactic agents for protection against them. The term ‘biological toxin’ generally refers to nonreplicating toxic organic materials produced by living organisms. Such a defi nition could however be extended to include materials similar to those produced by living organisms but made by in vitro means.
