ABSTRACT

Design of a new machine In this case study, a production plant for texturizing synthetic yarn is simulated. Texturizing with disc friction units was first established years ago. At the ITMA 2003 (International Textile Machinery Exhibition), the top speed displayed by texturizing machines was 1,600 m/min, while the normal production running speed was 500 to 700 m/min. With a new fluid cooling, developed at the ETH Zurich and shown at this exhibition, the texturizing speed was raised up to 2,500 m/min. The development of this machine had only started one year previously, with a study covering the basic concept of the new machine.
