Sensory–Motor Experience during the Development of Motility in Chick Embryos

Feeling a baby kick in its mother’s womb is the first experience most people have with embryonic motility. The first motor events for a human fetus occur just prior to 8 weeks of gestation.

General aversive movements to touch first occur at 8 weeks,

and plantar flexion of the toes when the sole of the foot is touched starts at 11 weeks.
