ABSTRACT
Other chapters in this book have described methods to study important features of neuronal nicotine receptors (nAChRs), including their structure, response to ligand binding, and ability to influence other neurochemical systems. These receptors obviously play a number of roles in normal brain function. In addition, they are coopted by the nicotine delivered by tobacco products which acts through these receptors to produce addiction or dependence.
