Image Capture

The optical layout for a microscope presented in Chapter 1 gave us only a virtual image: ideal for observing with the naked eye, but which, by definition, cannot be projected on to a screen or to a recording medium (Figure 1.3). To capture the image, we need to take the real image formed by the objective lens and project as a further real image inside a camera. Figure 4.1 shows how this is done.
