ABSTRACT

Pronotum mostly elongate to trapezoidal, globose in Notoxini, larger than head, widest in anterior third, narrowing in basal half (except Ischaliinae); lateral margins not bordered (except Ischaliinae). Prosternum narrow in front of contiguous procoxae; procoxae conical, prominent; procoxal cavities open posteriorly (closed in Ictystignini), closed internally by internal apodeme extending from lateral foveae above procoxae (foveae lacking in Lagrioidinae, Ischaliinae, and Steropinae). Thin, well defined sulcus in many originating at lateral foveae and extending posterodorsally to cross dorsum just anterior to base. Pronotal apex simple, dorsally flanged, or with distinct collar; prominent apicodorsal horn projecting over head in Notoxini.
