ABSTRACT
It is generally a good idea to approach a pragmatic paradigm from the standpoint of a conceptual model. Even though flawed and incomplete, if some care is given to its formulation, a model based approach is likely to give us a more useful frame of reference than a paradigm of the “just do it” variety. Statistical process control is no exception to this rule.
