ABSTRACT

Part I discussed technologies for XML and Part II discusses XML concepts as well as semantic Web concepts, with Part III covering applications of XML. Now that we have some idea on what the semantic Web will look like, let us examine some preliminary information on how one can go about building the semantic Web. Eventually, we have to build a semantic Web to see if the goals and objectives can be met. We may not realize, however, that the semantic Web could be well on its way to being built. This is mainly because no really clear definition of the semantic Web has been adopted. If we assume the definition of Lee et al. [LEE01], then we are far from building the semantic Web; however, if we assume that the semantic Web is the Web of yesterday with more intelligence, then we have it. That is, the semantic Web will never be complete, but it will continually evolve. The Web of today will be the semantic Web of yesterday, and the Web of tomorrow will be the semantic Web of today.
