ABSTRACT
Thermal radiation is a form of energy emitted as electromagnetic waves (or photons) by all matter above a temperature of absolute zero. The emissions are due to changes in the electron configurations of the constituent atoms or molecules. In this chapter, the mechanisms and governing equations of thermal radiation will be described.
