TURBULENT COMBUSTION REGIME CHARACTERISTIC OF A TAYLOR COUETTE BURNER

A variety of combustion congurations have been employed by previous in-

vestigators in studies of turbulent burning velocities of premixed ames. These

include (1) rod-stabilized v-ames; (2) tube-stabilized conical ames;

(3) stagnation-ow stabilized ames [1]; (4) weak-swirl stabilized ames [2]; and

(5) fan-stirred chambers [3]. All of these congurations suer to varying degrees

from turbulence that is inhomogeneous, unsteady, or subject to signicant mean

ow velocity or mean strain.
