The results from a ducted combustion test program on supersonic

mixing and combustion enhancement are presented. The test was

conducted in a scramjet combustor using aerated (by air or hydro-

gen) liquid kerosene (eervescent) jets injected through elliptic noz-

zles from tube-micropylons and n-pylons. Kerosene jets were injected

into a two-dimensional diverging-area supersonic combustor in two ways:

(1) through nozzles drilled in tube-micropylons at an angle of 45

Æ

rela-

tive to the main-stream air ow direction and (2) through nozzles drilled

at the base of n-pylons. In the latter case a co-ow injection was used.
