ABSTRACT
In this chapter we present a brief introduction to basic cosmology. As long as we study nearby regions of space, the geometry can be considered Euclidean. But the largest contemporary data sets and, to a much greater extent, the planned future surveys, cover larger regions of space, where cosmological effects (curvature of the space, evolution of objects) must be taken into account.
