ABSTRACT
In this chapter we turn our attention to models in which the service rate is a decision variable. Typically it is the operator of the service facility who is able to choose the service rate, so we shall usually speak of the decision maker and the facility operator as one and the same. The models differ according to whether or not the arrival rate is a decision variable (directly or indirectly) .
