ABSTRACT

Athletes and weight trainers often use protein supplements in an attempt to maximize their gains and performance. There are a large variety of protein supplements available on the market today, with the main sources coming from milk or soy processing. These supplements may contain a mixture of whey, casein, or soy protein, or may contain a relatively pure protein from one source. Many protein supplements include other types of supplements, such as glutamine or maltodextrose; thus, it is best to read the label and fully understand the full composition of the protein supplement.
