ABSTRACT
Performance limits for buried structures are excessive deformations. One such deformation is a leak. Because of leaks, not only is product lost, but the soil (or the product) may become contaminated. Craters and landslides have been caused by major leaks. Gas and oil spills and fires could be the consequences of leaks in fuel lines and fuel tanks.
