ABSTRACT

A hyperbaric environment is an environment with a high atmospheric pressure, whose characteristic factors signicantly affect the human body during occupational activities (working in caissons, diving), military underwater operations, and recreational scuba* diving. For untrained individuals, those who do not observe adequate precautions and safety measures, elderly persons, and those with health problems, exposure to such an environment could prove dangerous with a risk of death. However, hyperbaric procedures are employed in the treatment of some medical conditions. Knowledge of this eld covers a range of issues signicant in the context of occupational safety, the safety of qualied underwater recreation participants, and appropriate medical practices.
