ABSTRACT
TNT was discovered in 1863 by Wilbrand. In 1902 it began to find important applications in the German military industry as the main explosive ingredient in shells, bombs, and grenades.3 It was soon adopted by other countries, and during the two World Wars, millions of tons of TNT were produced and used mainly as an ingredient in binary explosives.
