ABSTRACT

Glyceryl trinitrate, or nitroglycerin (NG), is one of the most widely used explosives. It is the main component in dynamites and a plasticizer for ni trocellulose in double — and multibase propellants.1,2 These propellants are made by colloiding and molding processes similar to those used in the plastics industry. Double base consists usually of nitrocellulose 4-NG -I-stabilizers and catalysts. Multibase consists of a combination of several nitrate materials such as nitrocellulose, NG, nitroguanidine, triethylene glycol dinitrate + stabilizers, and catalysts.
