INTRODUCTION The Dermaflex A (Figure 9.1) was originally developed as a prototype by the Department of Dermatology, Rigshospital, Copenhagen, Denmark and the Institute of Technical Engineering (ATV), Glostrup, Denmark. Its purpose is to measure objectively the stiffness of the skin in scleroderma (Figure 9.2) in concert with other methods for measurement of skin thickening and change of color in this disease.
