ABSTRACT

A bombing, a rocket attack, a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device, a suicide bomber-all fit the description of what I consider

immediate crisis response operations. One has to remain on guard that follow-up attacks do not take place in the same city, region, or country. But, for the most part, your main function and the function of the crisis planning is to ensure that your personnel and assets survive the attack, and to offer any assistance that might be required to personnel on the ground and in-country. You have now stepped into a protection mode while the country’s internal resources, government, first responders, and military may be preoccupied or unable to assist you. You will be dealing with employees who are frightened and are looking to you for advice and suggestions.
