ABSTRACT

The practice of dermato-surgery is expanding with, consequently, an increasing need for anesthesia. Anesthesia in plastic surgery relies on all available techniques: local anesthesia (topical and subcutaneous), locoregional anesthesia, and general anesthesia. Dermato-surgery can be performed as an outpatient

procedure in the dermatologist’s office, or in the officebased surgery setting. In this setting only local or distal locoregional anesthesia can be used, since other major plexus anesthesia and general anesthesia have to be performed by a board-certified anesthesiologist (French law 5 December 2005).
