ABSTRACT

Training is a critical factor in safe and efficient organizational performance. A skilled and prepared workforce can yield higher productivity and better service, improved quality, higher motivation and commitment, fewer errors, increased safety, and greater levels of teamwork and morale (Salas, Wilson, Priest, and Guthrie, 2006). Perhaps indicative of its importance, research suggests that in the United States alone, organizations spend an estimated $54.2 to $200 million annually on training and developing employees (Salas and Cannon-Bowers, 2001).
