ABSTRACT
All of these pitfalls of team performance share a common feature: The team was not effective at engaging everyone on the team in the search for creative, integrated design concepts. The truth of the opening quote (“all of the mistakes are made on the first day”) becomes apparent only late in the design cycle, if ever. It is only with reflection that you trace the failure to develop an innovative design to the assumptions and decisions made at the very beginning.
