ABSTRACT

In a time of transition from one century to another, and when the first born in vitro fertilization (IVF) child has reached what used to be the age of majority, we face a doubly symbolic appraisal of the dilemmas of assisted reproduction. Long since has the age of legal majority been lowered from 21 to 18 in many European countries and assisted reproductive technologies (ART) been integrated in the framework of our family structuring and our societies. There are numerous ethical dilemmas which cannot even be thoroughly discussed in books solely dedicated to the subject/ and the choice made below must per force be eclectic and reflect current concerns.
