ABSTRACT

Structural elements such as wall panels, hydraulic structures, airport pavements, military structures, and industrial ²oor overlays may be subjected to severe impact loads. Very high stress rates occur during such dynamic loads as a large amount of energy is transmitted to the structure in a short duration. Structural elements respond to earthquake and explosive forces by a variety of interactive mechanical properties. These properties include strength, absorbed energy, deformation capacity, and ductility and must be present to maintain integrity without collapse. Fiber addition to concrete improves its ductility, tensile, impact, and ²exural strength.
