ABSTRACT

There have been thousands of publications in scienti“c journals and other venues regarding asbestos. In spite of its recognized health hazard, like so many other occupational causes of illness and injury in the United States and around the world, asbestos is frequently overlooked in the clinical setting. There are many complex factors and explanations that account for this rather routine oversight. Chief among them is the relative lack of emphasis that occupational causes of disease command in medical training programs at the graduate and postgraduate levels.
