subject of methodologies used in immunotoxicity assessment, suggesting that nothing more can be said concerning the subject; however, this chapter will differ somewhat from those preceding it. The toxicological and immunological bases for the various assays are described, along with suggestions on how the results might be interpreted. Also, the assay techniques themselves are described and appropriately referenced, along with suggestions for appropriate positive and negative controls. In addition, potential confounding factors and methodological problems are discussed. This chapter differs, however, in the presentation of a number of immunological techniques which have not, until now, been extensively utilized as tools for investigative immunotoxicology. In addition, suggestions on how these techniques may be incorporated into actual study protocol are discussed.
