ABSTRACT
About 70 to 80 elements in the Periodic Table (see Figure 1) are considered metals. Groups la and Ha, the “s block” metals, form monovalent and divalent cations, respectively. Groups Illb to VIb constitute the “p block” elements and include metals that can have ions of different valencies. These are called the transition elements.
