ABSTRACT

The Annie E. Casey Foundation has been working to promote the wellbeing of vulnerable children and families for more than 50 years. Established in 1948 by UPS co-founder Jim Casey and his siblings to honor their mother, the Foundation’s first grants supported a camp for disadvantaged children near the Casey family home in Seattle. Later, Jim Casey steered the Foundation’s efforts toward finding more stable placements for children being bounced from one foster family to another.
