ABSTRACT
Subsequent cases of “flea-borne spotted fever” were reported from Europe and South and Central America (9,12,13) that had been diagnosed by PCR and/or serologic tests. The whole genome of this bacterium has been recently sequenced and revealed more phenotypic and genotypic properties that were surprisingly different from other bacteria of the same genus (14).
