ABSTRACT

For vendor selection, the client should narrow down to track records that match its criteria. Outsourcing should be segmented based on the business results desired, technology, and whether the applications are static or undergoing enhancements. The Capability Maturity Model of the vendor should be looked into carefully. Any contract/outsourcing assignment involves coordination, compatibility, capability, shared vision, and leadership. An effective mechanism of feedback and communication should be prevalent. A responsible person should be appointed to allay any doubts and apprehensions. Continuous innovation by the vendor will greatly enhance the quality and speed of the project, reduce costs, and generate more revenue. One of outsourcing industry’s leading research analysts firms, Forrester Research, observed in a research report that outsourcing is the beginning of the process- focused information technology (IT) era, and process expertise and IT capabilities are the most important factors in evaluating Business process outsourcing companies.
