ABSTRACT

The routine use of cross-sectional imaging in the staging of intraabdominal and extra-abdominal malignancy has shown that the adrenal gland is a common site of unexpected metastatic disease. Although modern computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging can be expected to detect nodules exceeding 5 to 10 mm, autopsy studies show that many adrenal metastases go undetected due to their small size.
